The Functional Assessment is a technique that consists in placing the patient in a upright position on a force platform to measure the COP displacement throughout a period of time.
The analysis of the sway velocity and the area in which the patient oscillated enables the MBSMT to quantify the postural response.
This diagnosis gives information about which family of stimuli are more conflictive to the patient in the postural control.
The Functional Assessment allows to determine a baseline for vestibular rehabilitation and to design a customized program, assessing what types of balance strategies are used by a specific patient to keep his posture. The technician can select the types of exercises needed to improve the overall rehabilitation process.
The Functional Assessment report provides summarized information of every performed exercise, which are always available for further consultation.
